Fantasia Barrinoknows the power of sisterhood in the latest trailer forThe Color Purple.

The trailer teases Celie as she receives encouragement from Shug Avery (Taraji P. Henson), before Celie recalls her abusive marriage to Colman Domingo’s character, which resulted in Nettie and Celie’s separation.

Also in the trailer, Henson sings the show-stopper “Push Da Button.”

“A story of love and resilience,The Color Purpleis a decades-spanning tale of one woman’s journey to independence,” reads a synopsis. “Celie faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.”

The new movie musical from director Blitz Bazawule and producersOprah Winfrey,Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones, comes more than three decades after Spielberg, 76, directed the 1985 film that earned Winfrey, 69, an Oscar nomination for her role as Sofia, whom Danielle Brooks plays in the new movie.
