Jenna Bush Hager’schoice of footwear has sparked a heated debate on TikTok.
TheTodayco-host, 42, shared a recent TikTok clip where she posed a question to her followers about her footwear: what do you call the comfortable slides you wear around the house?
“Do you call these house shoes or slippers?” she asked her viewers, speaking to the camera as someone films her about to get into a town car. “I call ‘em house shoes, and I’m wearing them on the streets of New York.”
Many of her followers left a comment describing exactly what they called the shoes and where they were from.
One Texan wrote that they called them “house shoes,” while one Mississippian called them “slippers.” Another common name for the slides was “bedroom shoes” — commenters from South Carolina and Georgia confirmed that they had an alternate name for the comfy shoes.
“I think it’s a southern vs north difference,” one TikTok viewer posited. “Northerners call them slippers.”
