These days , the Jungle Cruise ride in Disney base parks is unlike any other ride there . That ’s because it is n’t just about the ride itself , it ’s about a full experience where “ tour guides ” joke about the drive while on the ride with whacky , PG - rat joke . It ’s so unfunny , it actually becomes funny , andthe new movie seems to be embracingthat awkwardness .
Disney just releaseda little picture teasingthe approaching Jungle Cruise pic , which stars Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson . In it , the two give-and-take on set , in costume , and the joke are just big enough to make them kind of charming , which is incisively in the spirit of the drive . Check it out .
Jungle Cruise was one of the original ride at Disneyland when it open up in 1955 ; at the time , its animatronic animals were state of the art . That quickly change , though , and a few geezerhood later , the drive pivot to be much more tongue - in - cheek about the whole affair with the jape , not the animals , becoming the primary attractive force .

And while the melodic theme of a Jungle Cruise movie has n’t been around for as long as the ride , in the year after the succeeder of Pirates of the Caribbean film , Disney did endeavor to get the ball roll . At one point , Toy Story carbon monoxide gas - stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were even encircle the project . Once Johnson arrive on boardthough , thing moved rather cursorily .
The film star not just Johnson and Blunt , but also Paul Giamatti , Édgar Ramírez , and Jesse Plemons among others . Plus , it ’s being directed by Jaume Collet - Serra , known for Liam Neeson action film like unsung and Non - Stop , as well as genre films like House of Wax and The Shallows . There ’s a lot of potentiality here foranother merriment , funny , family adventureset in the jungle from Johnson and company . We ’ll see what they have in computer memory on October 11 , 2019 .
