At the premiere of Glover’s new Prime Video series — a remake of Pitt and ex-wifeAngelina Jolie’s 2005 action-comedy of the same name — on Wednesday, Glover toldEntertainment Tonightthat he “reached out to Brad” some time after hefirst took on the projectin 2021.
“Brad was like, you know, he just Brad Pitted his way out of it,” Glover, 40, told the outlet. “I was like, ‘I just need some tips,’ and he just charmed his way out of it. He was like, ‘Oh, you’ll do great, kid.’ That kind of thing.”
“He was very, very sweet and nice and that was very helpful,” the actor added. “I just wanted to get a good understanding … It was great. He gave me good advice.”
Mr. and Mrs. Smithwas the seventh highest-grossing movie of the year at theglobal box officein 2005. Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, first met when they filmed the movie, ultimately leading to a relationship between the two stars that lasted until their2016 divorce.

TheMr. and Mrs. Smithmovie followed Pitt and Jolie as a married couple who discover they “are both coolly lethal, highly paid assassins working for rival organizations,” per an official20th Century Studiosdescription of the movie.
Prime Video’s new series puts a fresh spin on the concept: Glover costars withMaya Erskineas two spies working for the same agency who are assigned the John and Jane Smith identities — and a marriage — as their cover.

“These were not helpful thoughts, so I really had to accept that I was going to be a real woman, I’m not going to be perfect and that’s OK," she added. “I decided it would still be sexy, but in a different way.”

At Wednesday’s premiere, Erskine joked to PEOPLE that she feels “terrified” to haveMr. and Mrs. Smithrelease so soon.
“I imagine that the sexiness of it is coming from the intimacy between these two people and that it feels real,” she said of stepping into Jolie’s former role. “It’s not like super perfect and glossy and so I’m excited to see how that comes out.”
