Christmas Vacationis hands down my favorite Christmas movie of all time . It ’s 25 age old this year , and this week , Rolling Stone has anexcellent unwritten historyon the fashioning of the flick . I watch it with my phratry almost every twelvemonth . perhaps I love it because Clark is an absurd caricature of my own begetter . Or because my own 90 - twelvemonth - sure-enough grandmother ( who we call Mommo ) , reminds me of forgetful Aunt Bethany . And almost by all odds because every mob — even my own — has its variant of crazy Cousin Eddie .
The moving picture dead expresses the weird opponent feelings we have at the holidays . On the one hand you get to savor it , and on the other you have to get through it , which can sometimes clash to create a perfect storm . And in Clark ’s showcase , it certainly did . [ Netflix ]
