The Canon Digital Rebel serial of cameras has always been a go - to choice for the entry - level DSLR seeker . So when the a la mode upgrade , theRebel T4i , arrive at our office , we rip up composition board and straight off started toying with all the novel features .

The image timbre of the T4i is great , but not appreciably dissimilar from what you ’d get out of last yr ’s T3i , save a bit less interference at higher ISOs . And from my initial examination , the down in the mouth light performance seemed to match my 7D almost exactly . So the existent photos will be familiar if you already have a late Canon DSLR .
But the marquee T4i feature , cosmetic as they are , were eye - untier : the pinch - covert ( Canon ’s first in a DSLR ) , and the continuous motorcar - focus while shooting video recording .
The touchscreen , in special , is a welcome raise . The motion of your finger to get at card items is far more intuitive than scrolling through menus , especially if you are already familiar with Canon ’s port design .
As a video - monger , I was most pump on car - focus in TV modal value with the T4i ’s new STM lens such as the 40 mm f/2.8 pancake . It is n’t double-dyed , but definitely useable in casual video shooting , and a Brobdingnagian step-up in exploiter - friendliness versus constantly screwing with manual focus , never really certain if your subject field is completely sharp . Oh , and that 40 millimetre pancake lens of the eye just adorbs , not to cite sharp and reactive . You could actually bag this lens easily .
That ’s what jumps out so far ; think of , this is more of an incremental improvement than a massive update . But we ’ll be putting the T4i through the dead ringer in the next few workweek , and will be back with a full review soon !
