Microsoft ’s young Surface pad search like it couldgive the iPad stiff contender — but according to Bloomberg it wo n’t be matching Apple ’s offer on every front . Theirsources suggest that , initially at least , the Surface will only sport Wi - Fi , and no option for a nomadic data connection .

Maybe that ’s fine . After all , Wi - Fi - only tablets account for the legal age of the market place contribution right now , with most tablets being used in the main in the home — soif Bloomberg is correct , it believably would n’t really harm Microsoft too much . It would also allow Microsoft to keep open costs low which , in routine , should mean it can pass some of those savings to the consumer .
But Surface ’s big selling item — its keyboard — squarely place the tablet at people who need a light , portable gadget that can still deliver functionality on the move . That kind of use could no doubt be added to immeasurably with the inclusion of an LTE connectedness .
