Last week , it come to light that Samsung was planning to attack Apple base on the fact that its iPhone design copied Sony products — and theevidence was convincing . But now theVerge has expose Apple ’s reaction , which paint a picture there were convincing iPhone prototypes kicking around well before the Sony - esque role model was dreamt up .

Ina documentfiled to the courts by Apple , the company points to a prototype twist , pictured above , which was codenamed “ Purple ” . It bears plenty of similarity to the iPhone we know , and Apple claims it predates the Sony - elan gadget that came to light last calendar week by months .

The Purple was , apparently , first shown off within Apple back in August 2005 , and the caller claim that it was what went on to become the first iPhone ( see image ) What ’s more , the court document claims that Shin Nishibori ’s Sony - inspired intent was just “ an ‘ pleasurable ’ side project ” . Which may well be the compositor’s case ! But it ’s for the court to decide incisively how important each designing was in contributing to the iPhone that last made it to securities industry .
